The Symposium also coincided with the official visit to the island of Dr. John Button, President of Kiwanis International and Serge Viau, Governor of Eastern Canada and Caribbean District of Kiwanis International, both of whom were Special Guest Speakers at the event. The Symposium primarily targeted Kiwanis’ Service Leadership Programme groups which include High School students in Key Clubs and Tertiary level students in Circle K Clubs. Kiwanis' Motto is “Serving the Children of the World” and so the majority of projects are focused on empowering children through developmental programmes, skills training and providing general care and support as required. This Youth Symposium was directly aligned to these objectives, with the participants receiving pertinent information through Presentations and Booth Displays focused on making the students aware of opportunities available to them in terms of scholarships and career options, and also sensitizing them on pertinent issues such as drug abuse etc..

25th Anniversary Luncheon June 2015, Part 1

For the past twenty-two (22) years the Club has hosted an annual luncheon where pioneering women have been recognized for their distinctive contributions or trail blazing efforts. Through this medium we have built awareness of the contribution made by business and professional women who make the time to render service to build better communities and most importantly, we raise funds for a Major Project and for the several philanthropic interventions made by the Club. This year our 25th Anniversary Luncheon, was held on June 18, 2015. Our guest presenter was Michelle Denise Bernard, an American with Jamaican roots. Michelle is a journalist, political analyst, lawyer, author, and President and CEO of the Bernard Center for Women, Politics & Public Policy.
